How to send crypto safely: a short checklist

Before you hit send, use this checklist to avoid common mistakes — wrong chain, wrong address, or unexpected fees.

Start by confirming the asset and network. Sending the right token on the wrong chain is one of the most common ways people lose funds. Your wallet and any reputable app should clearly label the source chain and the destination.

Double-check the recipient address character by character, or use a saved contact if your wallet supports it. For cross-chain sends, make sure the address format matches the destination chain.

Review fees and estimated arrival time. Cross-chain routes may include network fees on more than one chain. If a quote looks too good to be true, pause and compare another route.

Finally, send a small test amount when you are moving a large balance or using a path for the first time. It is the simplest way to build confidence without taking unnecessary risk.
